Bro. Murrie Thomson I.P.M. and Bro. Ray King P.M. certainly received a very warm welcome when they visited the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales to see Bro. Len Millings installed as Grand Tyler.
The event was held at Grand Lodge in London where upwards of 1600 brethren attended the ceremony and around 400 Grand Lodge Office Bearers were invested by the Grand Master, M.W. Bro. His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent. Bro. Len and his son, Bro. Nick Millings are 'staunch' members of the 'Ostrea Lodge Team' and it was great to catch up with them, after their visit to Lodge Kirkliston Maitland in March of this year. After the ceremony, Bro. Ray and Bro. Murrie enjoyed 'grandstand seats' in a balcony overlooking the function suite in the nearby Grand Connaught Rooms where 900 brethren sat down to dinner after the ceremony. As always, the hospitality extended to the 482 duo was amazing and sincere thanks again to Bro. Len. It is the turn next year of members and friends of Lodge Kirkliston Maitland to make the trip south to Colchester and preparations are already in hand for this trip. However, before then, there is a possibility that later this year Len and Nick could visit 482 and they can certainly be assured of a very warm welcome!! Once again, congratulations to Bro. Len on his Installation and thanks again for the warm welcome and generous hospitality.

We've just published photographs taken at our bi-annual 'Ostrea Lodge' visit when, one again, everyone concerned had a really great night!! It's always good to meet up with our friends from South of the Border and this year was no exception, with 22 brethren making the trip this year. And we're already taking about a date for trip to Colchester in 2014!! You can see the photographs by clicking here. CandidateOur candidate on the night was Mr. Andrew Hogg, son-in-law of our R.W.M. Bro. Les Duff. And at our meeting the Wednesday before, we initiated Mr. Peter Cox, the first of our three new candidates. This coming Wednesday, 3rd April,we'll be working another Entered Apprentice Degree when our third candidate will be initiated. This will be our second-last meeting of the first part of the season and we'll finish off with a Mark Degree worked by Bro. Alastair Smith P.M. Between these two meeting is The PGLM Quarterly Communication, being held this time in West Calder at The Thistle Lodge 270. DeputationLater in the month, on April 22nd, we'll be taking a deputation to Lodge Royal Thistle 1338 The Royal Scots and of course there are three installations in the diary: Lodge Liberton 1201 on Saturday 27th April, Lodge St. John Corstorphine 788 on Saturday 11th May and Dalkeith Kilwinning No. 10 on Friday 17th May.
Well, it's just over a year since we moved back to our spiritual home in Kirkliston and what a difference these 12 month have made.
Our new Right Worshipful Master, Bro. Les Duff P.M. was well and truly installed by 482 Past Masters Bro. Gordon Yeoman and Bro. David Swan and Bro. Les and his team of Office Bearers are settling in well to their new posts. The Past Master boards and most of the Lodge photographs are now on display during our meetings and this is another major step forward. Many visitors comment on how well the Lodge looks and this is something we really appreciate, helping to make all the hard work and effort really worth while. New Candidates After a long time without attracting new candidates, there has also been a dramatic increase in fortune. Bro. Donald Small was raised in January and since then we've had three further applications for Initiation. Two of the three enquiry meetings have taken place and the third will be held this Monday, March 4th. And we hear on the grapevine that yet another application could be in the pipeline!! This coming Wednesday, March 6th, will see an exemplification of the EA Degree and, after that, 'live' degrees will be the order of the day!! You can check our degrees up to the end of the season on our diary page. Ostrea Lodge Visit Looking forward to the end of March, we look forward to our Bi-Annual visit by our friends from South of the Border. We'll be holding a special meeting for the Ostrea Lodge Brethren on Saturday March 23rd. This will be a 2nd Degree with a 4pm tyle. And the night before, we'll all be making our traditional visit to Lodge Kirknewton & Ratho No. 85. It's all happening!!! |
