In our last post, we were looking forward to starting work on our new storage area and now, as the first half of the Masonic season draws to a close we're taking a look back by posting some images from our photographic archive.
Much, or indeed most, of the archive was compiled by Bro. George Fairley P.M. who has sadly now passed away.
How fitting then to start by taking a nostalgic look back at Bro. George's Installation as R.W.M. in 1991.
You'll see lots of 'well kent' faces many, sadly, no longer with us. And it was a memorable year too for Bro. Gordon Yeoman P.M. who, for the first time in his Masonic career, was Right Worshipful Installing Master.
We'll be posting a few more photographs from 1991 very soon, this time of our Burns Supper so please visit us again.
You can visit this part of the archive HERE.
Lodge members made a significant decision at the regular meeting on 4th March by confirming the proposal to build an 'internal' storage area.
At present, the Lodge furniture and artefacts are kept in a building outwith the main part of Kirkliston Bowling Club, so there is a considerable amount of 'lifting and laying' to be done for each meeting.
The new area will be built on spare ground, behind and to the right of the stage (East of the Lodge) and would be accessed by a door to the right of the stage.
The room is large so there will be plenty of space and will make setting up and breakdown of the Lodge much easier and faster, with no worries about inclement weather.
At present, the space near the entrance to the Temple is fairly congested at the best of times so, thanks to its size, there are plans to also utilise the new area as a preparation room for candidates and also as a more suitable location for deputations to wait before being welcomed into the Lodge.
The Bowling Club are very supportive of our plans and we look forward to working with them on what is a very exciting project and we hope to initiate building work as quickly as possible.
Watch this space!!
